Death Angel has released a new single on Nuclear Blast Records, their first new music since 2019’s Humanicide album. (2021’s The Bastard Tracks was a live album).
They will soon be on tour in Europe in June with Municipal Waste, in addition to playing the Milwaukee Metalfest later this month, the Aftershock festival in October, and their 10th Annual Another Death Angel X-Mas Show in December.
According to Death Angel drummer Will Carroll:
“Rob wrote the music for this tune what seems like ages ago but I guess it was a couple of years ago. Him and I tracked a demo for it about a year, year and a half ago. Musically it stayed pretty identical to the demo right down to the drum fills.
It’s a cool, fast little number that’s fun to play. It’s also the first Death Angel song with a blast beat. Well, I guess it should be called a mini blast since it’s so brief. I wanted to pay homage to my favorite Death Metal drummer Mike Smith from Suffocation. He’s always been a hero of mine.
We recorded it at Sharkbite studios in Oakland with Zach Ohren, which was kind of weird being that this was the first time recording without Jason Suecoff down in Florida. But he was great to work with and the studio has a GREAT drum tracking room. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Funny enough, Forbidden were recording there the same week so we were alternating days with them. Robb Flynn paid us a visit during a session too. The whole experience was quick, easy and a lot of fun.”
